ELABORACIONES ANCESTRALES BLANCO ORANGE 2020
Smelling Elaboraciones Ancestrales Orange is a magical experience: spiced herbal aromas of rosemary, bay leaves and incense. It has a rich and unctuous palate of orchard fruits and fragrant pepper. The finish is long lasting with a subtle touch of tannin. One of the most elegant orange wines we have ever tried.
ENSAMBLAJE BLANCO 2020
This is a blend of native white varieties from the Canary Islands. Depending on the conditions vintage the proportions and grapes blended in this wine will vary. The grapes are harvested and vinified separetely. Some of them, such as Marmajuelo or Gual, grow near the Ocean and are normally harvested in early August. Vijariego Blanco is cultivated at much higher altitude, and it is not picked until late October. Once all varieties are fermented and aged independently, the Ensamblaje is blended. It is extremely aromatic: tropical fruits with honeysuckle, apricot and mint. On the palate it has a vibrant acidity and an incredible volcanic minerality.
MALVASÍA AROMÁTICA AFRUTADO 2020
By stopping the fermentation when there is still a bit of residual sugar, Viñátigo makes this beautiful and aromatic off-dry wine. On the nose, it has beautiful aromas of grapefruit and citrus, fresh salty peaches, bitter orange peel and rose petal notes. On the palate, the vibrant acidity cuts through the subtle sweet sensation.
MALVASÍA CLÁSICO 2009
This sweet wine is Viñátigo's homage to what the Canary Island Wines once were: the most appreciated wine in the world. Have a look at some of Shakespeare's lines in Henry VI: ""But, i' faith, you have drunk too much canaries, and that’s a marvellous searching wine, and it perfumes the blood ere one can say “What’s this?” How do you now?""
This Malvasia vines grow near the Ocean, in very mild weather conditions with an important marine influence. This is a late harvest wine. The sweetness of the wine comes from the natural sugar of the grapes. It is aged for a year on its fine lees in French oak barrels. On the nose, it has aromas of bitter orange peel, rose petals, dried apricots and almonds. It has beautiful notes of jasmine and other white flowers and an unwavering acidity and roundness on the palate.
MARMAJUELO 2020
Today, there are only 25 hectares planted with Marmajuelo in the world, scattered in small plots in the islands of Tenerife and El Hierro. It grows ungrafted at a very low altitude, below 300 meters above sea level, under the constant influence of the Ocean breeze.
This marine freshness translates into a beautiful acidity and a vibrant salinity in the wine. On the nose, tropical aromas of passion fruit, pineapple and banana leaves intermingle. On the palate it's fresh, with great texture.
NEGRAMOLL 2018
Negramoll is Canary Island's most delicate red variety. It's thin skin and big berries yield wines that are light bodied but have very powerful aromatics. The ungrafted vines grow near the Ocean, around 300 meters above sea level. The wine is aged for six months in neutral barrels. The delicate aromas of red berry fruits are accompanied by an intriguing wisp of toffee and a powerful yet subtle volcanic minerality. A smooth and rounded palate shows polished tannins and a gentle, pleasant finish.
