Viñátigo y The Ozen Collection

Bodegas Viñátigo has returned to the Maldives for the fourth consecutive year to collaborate with The Ozen Collection, hosting a series of exclusive gastronomic and lifestyle experiences for guests of its luxury island resorts. This new visit continues to strengthen a relationship that has evolved into a unique cultural exchange centered on wine, gastronomy and place.

During the residency, Viñátigo’s volcanic wines from Tenerife were featured in special culinary events led by the chefs of Ozen Life Maadhoo and Ozen Reserve Bolifushi. These experiences combined the character of Canary Islands wines with Asian culinary influences and the refined hospitality of the Maldives, creating memorable pairings that surprised and inspired resort guests.

One of the key elements of this collaboration is the technical and cultural exchange with the resort teams. Over the past four years, professionals from The Ozen Collection have had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Viñátigo’s winemaking philosophy—from the origin of the grapes and the volcanic soils of Tenerife to the cultural identity behind every bottle.

This knowledge allows the teams to share more meaningful stories with guests, explaining not only how the wines taste but also where they come from, what landscapes shape them and how they reflect the heritage of the Canary Islands.

As a result of this ongoing collaboration, elements of Canary Islands gastronomy have gradually found their place within the culinary proposals of the resorts.

Chefs experiment with new interpretations that incorporate ingredients, techniques and inspiration from the archipelago, creating a bridge between two distant island cultures connected by creativity and curiosity.

During the visit, moments of spontaneous culinary inspiration also emerged. In one of the gastronomic encounters, the natural landscape of the island inspired the creation of a small amuse-bouche incorporating local Maldivian elements, illustrating how cuisine can interact with its surroundings and transform them into unique culinary experiences.

The collaboration also opened the door to an innovative experiment exploring underwater wine aging. Several bottles were submerged in the Indian Ocean to observe how conditions such as pressure, ocean temperature and depth might influence the evolution of the wine. This experiment, planned for approximately one year, will allow the team to evaluate whether the marine environment can bring new dimensions to Tenerife’s volcanic wines.

Beyond the events themselves, this fourth visit highlights the strength of a partnership built on shared curiosity and a passion for storytelling through wine. For The Ozen Collection, the continued presence of Viñátigo offers an opportunity to enrich the experiences offered to guests while connecting them with authentic stories that extend far beyond the dining table.

From the Maldives, the team at The Ozen Collection expressed their gratitude to Bodegas Viñátigo for their continued collaboration and for helping them explore the island of Kedar, emphasizing the value of a partnership that continues to grow year after year.
